PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the dimensional accuracy by securing the moldability at the time when the upper case and lower case of a cartridge case housing therein a reel wound with a magnetic tape are molded, and also to secure the reliability by increasing the impact resistance by suppressing the generation of brittle fracture and by obtaining satisfactory drop-resistant strength. SOLUTION: This tape cartridge is provided with a cartridge case 4 for rotatably housing the reel 7 wound with a magnetic tape 6, wherein the case 4 is formed by stacking an upper case 2 and a lower case 3. A polycarbonate having a viscosity-average molecular weight of 18000-24000 is used for the upper case 2 and lower case 3 of this cartridge case 4.
