PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a facsimile communication system that can fax to an arbitrary destination an image read in by an image output device, which is equipped with an image read means, but one which is not equipped with a facsimile function. SOLUTION: The image output device is equipped with a facsimile transmission setting means, which makes the user set a facsimile transmission destination, when a facsimile transmission mode is set and a transmitting means which starts reading an image, when an image read command is inputted through user operation in the facsimile transmission mode, transmits the read image data to a facsimile server, and also transmits the facsimile transmission setting data set by the facsimile transmission setting means to the facsimile server.
