PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To adopt appropriate measures when a failure occurres in the update of information in a machine setting table brought by e-mail from a communication device such as a service center device. SOLUTION: The service center device 100 sends an e-mail to instruct the update of a machine setting table 7a in a SRAM 7 to a facsimile machine 20 for the Internet, and after sending the e-mail, when receiving the reply e-mail on machine setting that represents the failure of the update (NO at step 25 of Fig. 5) or not receiving, within the predetermined time, the reply e-mail on machine setting that represents the success of the update (YES at step 25 of Fig. 5), the device 100 performs the connection with the facsimile machine 20 for the Internet to again update the machine setting table 7a via a public telephone network 50 (step 27 of Fig. 5, step 32 of Fig. 6).
