PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce expense, such as telephone charge at changing of call destination setting and to prevent information leakage at the time of notification in an automatic notification system provided with a notification apparatus and a remote terminal apparatus which are connected to a public telephone line. SOLUTION: The system is provided with the notification apparatus and the remote terminal apparatus which are connected to the public telephone line and are remotely provided. The notification apparatus monitors the operating and working situations of a monitoring target, and upon detecting a change in the state thereof, transmits information to a preset notifying destination via the public telephone line. If the presetting of the notifying destination must be changed, a specified signal is transmitted from the remote terminal apparatus to the notification apparatus to change the setting of the notification destination in a memory of the notification apparatus.
