PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To use either energy-saving operation by hybrid-driving or zero- emission operation by only a generator-cum-electric motor appropriately, according to the working conditions. SOLUTION: This hydraulic excavator is provided with a hydraulic pump 13 connected to the output shaft of an engine 10 via a clutch 14; the generator- cum-electric motor 11, that is connected via the pump 13 and functions as a generator or an electric motor, a battery 12 that accumulates electric power generated by the generator; and a controller 31 that controls the engagement or disengagement of the clutch 14, according to the operating conditions of the generator-cum-electric motor 11. |
