PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a white line recognition device that suppresses smear. SOLUTION: A smear detection section 41 detects a smear area from a road image by a camera 1. A shade area setting section 42 sets an area to be shaped in a shade section 11 provided to a camera 1 corresponding to the smear area. The smear is suppressed by shading the area. A liquid crystal display panel can be adopted for the shade section 11.
