PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance image quality and reduce consumption power. SOLUTION: This plasma display panel comprises a pair of sustaining electrodes 33a and 33b, extending in the row direction by being spaced by a discharge gap 34, and is provided with plural surface discharge electrode couples 33 formed at a predetermined interval in the columnar direction. The respective sustaining electrodes 33a and 33b are composed of stripe-like main electrode parts 35a and 35b, formed of a transparent conductive thin film and formed by facing to the discharge gap 34, and auxiliary electrode parts 36a and 36b formed of a metal film having a width smaller than that of the electrode parts 35a and 35b and formed on the opposite side to the discharge gap 34 side of the corresponding electrode parts 35a and 35b.
