PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect the position of a rotor with high resolution. SOLUTION: In a rotor position detector, a timer 9 increments a counter in each period of modulation of an inverter circuit 1 until 360 deg. of the electrical angle or mechanical angle of a motor 4 is detected by a magnetic detecting means 5. A position detecting means 8 computes an angle through which the motor 4 is rotated while the timer 9 counts one, and estimates the rotor position of the motor 4. |
