PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a synchronization pattern generating method and a synchronization pattern generating circuit for generating a synchronization pattern which enable a position in sector data to be recognized during reproduction even in a condition different from DVD-RAM. SOLUTION: When N-kinds of synchronization pattern are prepared in advance and M pieces of synchronization patterns are made to exist in sector data, the M pieces of synchronization patterns are set so that the respective synchronization pattern set of L-pieces of continuous synchronization patterns circulating by M pieces are different from each other so that the position in the sector data can be recognized only if recognizing at most L-pieces of synchronization patterns in reproduction. For generating the synchronization patterns, these synchronization patterns are generated in order and for recognizing the synchronization patterns, at most L-pieces of continuous synchronization patterns of these synchronization patterns are recognized to recognize the position in the sector data. |
