PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the break of a switching element by preventing the magnetic saturation of an inductance element caused by an excessive transient current. SOLUTION: This self-excited switching power source is self-excited by a multivibrator and alternately turns on and off an main switch and an auxiliary switching element, possesses an input current detection means, turns on the auxiliary switching element, and turns off the main switching element by the detection output. This uses a resistor connected to the main switching element as a detection means, and adds positive bias to the control terminal of the auxiliary switching element via a diode by this detection output level so as to turn it on.
