PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the sealing pressure resistance of an alkaline manganese battery for preventing rupture accidents of the battery due to by mistaken use. SOLUTION: In the cylindrical alkaline manganese battery, in which the opening of a cylindrical positive can 2 is sealed with a negative terminal 8, a negative terminal material is a steel plate having a thickness of 0.5-1.0 mm, a tensile strength of 370-500 N/mm<2> , and a hardness of 130-190 Hv. By specifying the thickness, the tensile strength, and the hardness of the negative terminal material in these ranges the strength of the negative terminal 8 is increased, the deformation of the negative terminal 8 caused by the crimping of the opening part of the positive can is prevented, and sealing pressure resistance is increased.
