PURPOSE: A gear lever assembly for an automatic transmission is provided to prevent robbery of a vehicle by constraining a parking-range state by control of an ETACS(Electronic Time and Alarm Control System) if the locked state of the vehicle is not released. CONSTITUTION: In a gear lever assembly for an automatic transmission, a push button(20) elastically moved in the horizontal axial direction by operation of a driver is installed in a horizontal groove(11) of a knob(10). A cam rod adjust(31), elastically moved in the vertical axial direction while being interlocked by operation of the push button, and a rod(30) are installed in a vertical groove(12) connected with the horizontal groove. A locking device-mounting groove(13) is formed on a side of the vertical groove. A cam rod-locking device(90) is installed at the locking device-mounting groove by plural fixing members(85). The cam rod-locking device prevents shifting operation while being withdrawn from the locking device-mounting groove to the vertical groove by a control signal of an ETACS by preventing the cam rod adjust from descending along the vertical groove when operating the push button.
