SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of measuring speed of electrode wire feed by means of photoelectric converter base pickup; passing electrode wire supplied from bobbin into feeding mechanism through said pickup; using pickup whose sensing member is frictionally connected with electrode wire in zone between bobbin and rollers of feeding mechanism; transforming reciprocation motion of electrode wire to electric pulses with repetition frequency proportional to speed of electrode wire feed. EFFECT: enhanced accuracy of measurement due to placing pickup directly into electrode wire. 2 dwg
