PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain a longer lifetime even when operated under a pressurized condition reducing the solubility of NiO. SOLUTION: Both faces of an electrolytic plate 1a in which a soluble carbonate of Li/Na dual system eutectic salt is soaked into a porous material as an electrolytic plate is put between a cathode 2 of NiO and an anode 3, and a cell C is constituted with an oxidized gas OG fed to the cathode 2 while a fuel gas FG fed to the anode 3, and then the cell is stacked into a multilayer through a separator 4 to provide a molten carbonate fuel cell as stack. La2 O3 is added to the molten carbonate of the electrolytic plate 1a so that it may be 10 mol% or less. When NiO reacts with CO2 to generate Ni<2+> at the cathode 2, generation of Ni<2+> is restrained by causing La2 O3 to be present in the molten carbonate by which solubility in the molten carbonate of NiO is reduced and generation of a Ni short circuit is restrained. |
