PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a television broadcast receiver which enables a user to easily make reservations for recording or viewing a desired broadcast program from no only an EPG program guide but also all television program guides, which can be displayed on a television screen, including Web program guides in general program guide sites on the Internet. SOLUTION: The television broadcast receiver is provided with a program information acquisition means which acquires program information included in a television broadcast, a pointing means which points an arbitrary position of the television screen, a recognition means which recognizes a character string from a pointed picture on the television screen, an extraction means which extracts a keyword for retrieval of the program information, and a retrieval means which uses the extracted keyword to retrieve a relevant program from the program information.
