PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spin valve TMR element which is made higher in output than the conventional element and, furthermore, to provide a magnetic recording and reproducing device using the TMR element. SOLUTION: This spin valve TMR element is constituted to include a laminated magnetic film formed by successively laminating a noble metal film 50, a spinel antiferromagnetic film 300, and a metalloid magnetite film 200 upon another.
