PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a synchronizing separator that sets (varies) a separation level depending on ON/OFF of a ghost elimination function configured capable of ON/OFF so as to properly improve vertical synchronization disturbance and horizontal synchronization disturbance due to a ghost signal or the like. SOLUTION: The synchronizing separator is provided with the ghost elimination circuit 15 that receives a composite video signal to eliminate a ghost signal and can turn ON/OFF its ghost eliminating function and with a synchronizing separator circuit 17 that receives the composite video signal passing through the ghost elimination circuit 15 to separate a synchronizing signal from the video signal and the synchronizing separating level of which is varied with the ON/OFF state of the ghost elimination circuit 150. Since the synchronizing separating level of the synchronizing separator circuit 17 is properly switched as soon as the ghost elimination function of the ghost elimination circuit 15 is switched on/off, the synchronizing separator can properly cope with out of synchronism and synchronization disturbance attended with the ON/OFF of the ghost elimination function.
