PURPOSE: A catalyst blend is provided, to improve the catalytic functionality of a titanyl oxalate catalyst used in the polycondensation of polyester by using a non-titanyl oxalate to form a catalyst blend. CONSTITUTION: The catalyst blend comprises a titanyl oxalate represented by XmTiO(C2O4)2(H2O)n; and a catalyst enhancer comprising oxalic or carboxylic acid of C1-C26 or their corresponding Li, Na, K, Rb, Cs, Be, Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba or ammonium salt, wherein X's are independently selected from the group consisting of H, Li, Na, K, Rb, Cs, Be, Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba and ammonium; and m is 1 or 2. Also the catalyst blend comprises a titanium compound represented by XmTiYo; and a catalyst enhancer comprising oxalic or carboxylic acid of C1-C26 or their corresponding Li, Na, K, Rb, Cs, Be, Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba or ammonium salt, wherein X is selected from the group consisting of H, Li, Na, K, Rb, Cs, Be, Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba and ammonium; m is 1 or 2; and Y is a ligand represented by CaHbOc (wherein a is 0-30, b is 0-60 and c is 1-10). |
