The folding caravan for a motor vehicle has a conventional fixed section (1) which has an extendable roof (2) articulated on a horizontal hinge (3). The caravan has side shells (6,7) on further hinges (10,11) which also support a pair of doors. There is a hatch (12) pivoting around a further axis for complete closure of the living space.
