PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable an image processor having an isolated point-removing function to surely remove only the noise isolated point, while leaving a character component such as a period. SOLUTION: Isolated point detection parts 644 and 646 detect isolated point candidates of different sizes and a character candidate detection part 630 detects a character candidate pixels. A 1st expansion part 654 generates a 1st expanded character area signal D23 having a 1st character area made to expand and a 2nd expansion part 656 generates a 2nd expanded character area signal D24, having a 2nd character area made to expand, except the isolated point candidates from the 1st character area. A decoding part 658 increases the probability, when determining the isolated point candidate pixels detected by the isolated point detection parts 644 and 646 as noise isolated points according to inter-pixel distances represented by the signals D21 and D31, etc., the detected isolated point candidate pixel with smaller detection size is determined as the noise isolation point. An isolation point removal part 660 sets the value of the pixel determined as the noise isolated point to an inactive value. |
