PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize broadband modulation or demodulation with simple control by using a modulator that modulates with in-phase component signals and orthogonal component signals and a demodulator that demodulates both component signals. SOLUTION: For instance in a modulator, fixed frequency signal generators OSC1 and P1 generate two fixed frequency signals f1 and f1' with their phases orthogonal each other, a variable frequency signal generator VCO1 generates a signal f2 of frequencies changing according to a modulation signal, and a carrier signal generators MI1, FI1, MQ1 and FQ1 generate an in-phase component carrier by mixing signals f1 and f2 and a quadrature component carrier signal by mixing a signal f1' and f2, and a modulators MI11 and MQ11 modulate the in-phase component carrier signal with the in-phase component signal to modulate the orthogonal component carrier signal with the orthogonal component signal. |
