The cigarette (2) is of the usual construction with a filter at one end. The other end is covered with a thin layer of a special compound (1) which may ignite only when rubbed against a complementary compound coated onto the lid of the cigarette packet. The compound on the lid of the cigarette packet may be non flammable.
