摘要 PURPOSE: A television convergence control device using reference patterns of different luminance levels per color and a method thereof are provided to precisely carry out the luminance sensing operation of an optical sensor for increasing the precision of the convergence control. CONSTITUTION: A television convergence control method by using reference patterns of different luminance levels per color includes the steps of calculating a proper output range of an optical sensor which measures luminance levels of reference patterns produced in a CRT(S10), controlling the luminance levels of the reference patterns differently per color to range maximum values of the output voltage of the optical sensor for the respective colors of the reference patterns within the proper output range(S20-S40), generating the reference patterns having the luminance levels different per color, measuring the luminance of the reference patterns by the optical sensor, and calculating deflection degrees of the reference patterns influenced by the earth magnetic fields on the basis of the output voltage of the optical sensor to calculating compensating data for image signals to be output by the CRT.
