The invention relates to an implant for fixing adjacent osseous plates, in particular osseous plates of the cranium. Said implant comprises an internal contact element, which is used to cover a separation gap between the osseous plates on the interior face of said osseous plates and an external contact element for covering the separation gap on the opposing exterior face of the osseous plates. The aim of the invention is to provide an implant, which a surgeon will find easy to use, that allows the osseous plates to be securely fixed. To achieve this, at least one tensioning band, which is used to brace the internal contact element and the external contact element by the exertion of tensile stress, is guided in a displaceable manner through the external contact element and said tensioning band(s) can be fixed to the external contact element.
