PURPOSE: A magnetic recording medium is provided to reduce noise, to improve thermal stability with a low tBr, and to record in a high-density. CONSTITUTION: A magnetic recording medium(10) having a substrate(11) and a magnetic layer(16) made of a cobalt-based alloy through a lower layer(12,13) on the substrate is composed of at least two intermediate layers(14,15) made of the cobalt-based alloy between the lower layer and the magnetic layer, the first intermediate layer formed to a lowest layer with containing cobalt and chrome, the composition of the first intermediate layer being Co-Crx(x is larger or same with 7 and smaller or same with 28, at percent), and the composition of the intermediate layer, after the second intermediate layer formed above the first intermediate layer, being Co-Cry(y is larger or same with 29 and smaller or same with 45, at percent). |
