Protective grating (4) is formed by lattice bars or rods (5-8) and is arranged vertically. The protective grating has at least two regions (I, II) with considerably different mesh widths. The region (I) with the greater mesh width is arranged above the region (II) with the smaller mesh width. Preferred Features: The region with the smaller mesh width occupies up to 50%, especially 30% of the total surface. The lattice bars or rods are made of stainless steel or an impact-resistance plastic and are arranged horizontally and vertically.
