1,218,956. Closed or closable manometer for fluid pressure measurement. BRUNSWICK CORP. 24 May, 1968 [13 June, 1967], No. 25027/68. Headings A5K and A5R. [Also in Division G1] A device for measuring fluid pressure, particularly the pressure' of cerebrospinal fluid, comprising a body member including a calibrated gauge portion having a bore of capillary dimensions, said body member further including a head which is closed or may be closed at the time of measurement and of greater diameter than the bore, and means for placing said gauge portion in communication with the fluid whose pressure is to be measured whereby the fluid entering said gauge portion bore will compress the air therein and in the head and will thus give a reading proportional to the fluid pressure. One embodiment of the device includes heat dissipating means comprising vanes attached to the head and gauge portion and a three-way valve whereby samples can be taken of the fluid from the manometer directly. Another embodiment includes an aperture in the head which is closable with a tape valve and thus allows original zeroing of the fluid in the scale suitably with the aid of a syringe, and final withdrawal of the sample back to the zero point after the measurement has been made. |
