METHOD FOR ANALYSING DIP IN SEISMIC DATA VOLUMES

A method of analyzing dip in a seismic data volume (101) in which a horizontal gradient (103) is calculated in a first direction in the seismic data volume. A vertical gradient (104) is calculated at data locations in the seismic data volume corresponding to the locations at which the horizontal gradient was calculated. Dip (106) is calculated in the first direction from the horizontal gradient (103) in the first direction and the vertical gradient (104). Repetition of the process (108-115) for the entire seismic data volume results in a dip volume (115).
