<p>A three-dimensional image is generated from a two-dimensional image according to a state of image mixture. A foreground/background component image generation unit (91) generates a foreground component image consisting of only a foreground object component and a background component image consisting of only a background object component from image data composed of a foreground region consisting of only a foreground object component, a background region consisting of only a background object component, and a mixed region where a foreground object component is mixed with a background object component. A foregrou nd parallax image generation unit (93) adds parallax to the foreground component image so as to generate a foreground parallax image for the right eye and adds parallax to the foreground component image so as to generate a foreground parallax image for the left eye. Synthesize units (94-1, 94-2) combines the right-eye foreground parallax image and the background image so as to generate a parallax image for the right eye and combines the left-eye foreground parallax image and the background image so as to generate a parallax image for the left eye. The present invention can be applied to an image processing apparatus.</p> |
