New monoclonal antibody specific for procollagenase 3, useful for diagnosing breast cancer, rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis

A monoclonal antibody which specifically recognizes and binds procollagenase 3 and has the characteristics of the antibody of the hybridoma cell line with accession number DSM ACC2527, is new. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) hybridoma cell line with accession number DSM ACC2527; and (2) an enzyme linked immunosorbant assay (ELISA) kit for detecting procollagenase 3 in body fluid, preferably human serum and joint fluid or in cell culture, comprising in separate packaging: (a) a container with bound monoclonal antibody sensitive and specific for human procollagenase 3; (b) human recombinant procollagenase as a standard for quantitating the detected enzyme; (c) a buffer for diluting the test sample; (d) a detectably marked conjugate which binds to procollagenase 3; and (e) a substrate which binds the conjugate and is itself detectably marked.
