1,005,224. Burner valves. NATIONALE S.A. June 25, 1962 [July 4, 1961], No. 24367/62. Heading F4F. [Also in Division G3] In a liquefied gas lighter burner an adjustable passage to control the flow of gas, is formed by the space between a conical threaded screw 13 and a threaded bore in a body 1 screwed into a reservoir 3. The body 1 may be made of a soft zinc alloy and the screw 13 made of hard steel. The thread in the body 1 is formed by screwing the screw 13 into a bore in the body 1, or is machined to correspond exactly to that of the screw. The screw 13 has a square head 14 which engages longitudinal grooves in a bore 12 in a central part 6 rotatably mounted in the body 1. A knob 17 engages grooves 18 on the part 6 and is retained by a ring 19. The part 6 has a rib 7 which deforms a synthetic resin sealing sleeve 5 housed in the body 1, the batten having a top opening closed by a ball-shaped member 8 containing a piston 9. A flexible metal lining 10 on the piston 9 seats over a gas aperture 11 in the part 6. The body 1 has a lower recess containing cotton 15 fed with fuel by a wick 16. In a further embodiment, Fig. 3 (not shown) the square head of the screw slides in a square hole in the base of the body 1 and screws into a sleeve secured in the rotatable central part 6. In another embodiment, the screw is rigidly fixed and the bore is formed in an axially movable sleeve. The screw may be made by rotating a part of soft material in a threaded bore in a hard material. |
