A cross-flow filtration wound module has a core (2) and a membrane (4, 6), a permeate spacer (10) and a retentate spacer (12) in a winding around the core (2). The membrane (4) is located between the permeate (10) and retentate spacer (12) which define the retentate passage. The winding is especially formed in an inlet section (20) where it performs no filter function. No permeate passage is located in the vicinity of the non-filtering section (20). The wound module has two membranes (4, 6) that are arranged alternately with the retentate (12) and permeate (10) spacers. No permeate spacer is located between the membranes in the non-filtering section. The two membranes (4, 6) are welded together at the end (22, 24) of the non-filtering section (20). Only one membrane (4, 6) is located near the non-filtering section (4). A seal layer is located between the permeate passage and retentate passage in the non-filtering section (20).
