The sweeper attached to the front of a locomotive has three motor driven rotating brushes (9.1,9.2,9.3) arranged vertically one above the other imparting a downwards movement to any material picked up. The lowest, together with a counter rotating brush (9.4), sweeps the material into a suction shaft (6). With the aid of a radial fan (4) the material is ejected through a nozzle (16). The lower brushes are located at a height ensuring that they sweep down to the surface of sleepers and the pivoting coupling (17) that they follow the curve of points.
