The invention relates to a pacemaker comprising a device for measuring at least one heart function parameter and a device modulating individual stimulation intervals in such a way that the degree of modulation is regulated depending on the duration of the diastolic interval and on changes in heart function parameters provoked by the modulations so that given phases of electrical and mechanical restitution can be detected independently of systolic duration while accuracy remains unchanged.
