PURPOSE: Provided are a method for detecting a nucleic acid by a membrane chromatograph technique and a kit therefor, thereby detecting a specific nucleic acid from a nucleic acid sample, particularly nucleic acid polymerization products using tagged probes. CONSTITUTION: The method for detecting a nucleic acid by a membrane chromatograph technique comprises the steps of: hybridizing a nucleic acid sample, which consists of nucleotide sequence capable of being specifically bound to a nucleic acid to be analyzed, with at least two kinds of tagged probes; binding the obtained nucleic acid-probe complex to coloring colloid particles; binding the obtained nucleic acid-probe-colloid complex to a complementary material on a membrane; and analyzing a coloring band on the membrane.
