PURPOSE: A control method and for reducing a current consumption in a memory and an apparatus thereof, and a semiconductor memory device using the same are provided, which reduces unnecessary current consumption by turning off a sense amplifier and a word line automatically using a sensing result in the sense amplifier. CONSTITUTION: According to the control method for reducing a current consumption in a memory, a sensing result of a sense amplifier(201) is detected. And the sense amplifier is disabled when the sensing is completed by the sensing result. Then, a word line is disabled when the sensing is completed by the sensing result. The sensing completion time is determined by performing an XOR operation as to two outputs of the sense amplifier.
