The invention relates to a clamping ring for axially connecting cylindrical components comprising annular flanges on the opposing front sides thereof. Said clamping ring consists of at least two segments (1) which can be connected by straining screws (2) and which respectively comprise a groove (5) on the inner circumference thereof, said groove radially overlapping the two opposing flanges. According to the invention, the clamping ring segments (1) respectively comprise at least one recess which extends radially from the inner circumference and intercepts the groove (5).
