PURPOSE: A method for early stopping a repetitive decoding in a turbo code decoding process is provided which can reduce a decoding delay time and a decoding calculation amount by a large margin. CONSTITUTION: According to the method for early stopping a repetitive decoding of a turbo code decoder including an interleaver and a plurality of partial decoders and a deinterleaver and a repetitive decoding stop determining block, the first step(S11) performs a repetitive decoding where two partial decoders generate two log likelihood ratio(LLR1,LLR2) as to each information bit at the same time. The second step compares signs of LLR1 and LLR2 as to each bit. The third step(S12) counts the number of bits of different signs in one frame and then compares it with a threshold value. And in the fourth step(S13 - S14), if the number of bits having different signs of LLR1 and LLR2 is larger than the threshold value in the third step, the repetitive decoding is continued by returning to the first step. And if the number is below the threshold value, it is judged that the corresponding frame has a high reliability of the decoding result and it is determined to stop the repetitive decoding early.
