PURPOSE: A cathode ray tube having an auxiliary heater is provided to protect a cathode from methane gas during aging process or characteristics test, by removing methane gas through the use of the auxiliary heater. CONSTITUTION: A cathode ray tube comprises a funnel; a panel coupled to the funnel, and which has an inner surface on which a phosphor screen is formed; R,G,B cathodes(32) for emitting electron beams toward the phosphor screen; a cathode heater for heating cathodes; an electron gun mounted in the funnel; a deflection yoke for deflecting electron beams emitted from the electron gun; and an auxiliary heater(36) operating independently from the cathode heater. The auxiliary heater generates heat at the temperature of 600 to 1000 Deg.C, and is disposed between R and G cathodes and G and B cathodes.
