A load detector of elevator, comprising rod side pulleys (27) mounted on a plurality of shackle rods (21), respectively. A plurality of frame side pulleys (29) are mounted on a frame (28) secured to a base (12). Intermediate part of a detection wire (30) is passed around the rod side pulleys (27) and the frame side pulleys (29) alternately. The detection wire (30) has one end part connected with the frame (28) and the other end part passed around a detection pulley (34) mounted on the frame (28). Rotational angle of the detection pulley (34) is detected by a sensor body (36b).
