[Also in Division F2] A clamping band for joining pipes, end-toend in alignment comprises two coaxial split rings disposed side-by-side and joined together over only a portion of their circumference, each end of each split ring having projecting lugs 6, 7 each with an opening to take a bolt to draw the lugs together and a tongue 12 which projects from the lug end into a groove (shown dotted at 13) on the inside surface at the other end of the ring so that the inside of the tongue forms a continuation of the inside of the ring. An elastic sleeve 4 inserted between the pipes and the ring has an internal flange which separates the ends of the pipes. Recesses inside the band correspond to flanges around the ends of the pipes.</p> |
