PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce high-molecular weight polyester-polycarbonates useful as a bioerosible matrix for controlled releasing of drugs and having a higher viscosity than that obtained by a conventional method. SOLUTION: The polyester-polycarbonates are represented by formula (I) wherein, a is an integer of 2-300; R1 and R2 are each the same or different and are each a polyester residue represented by formula (II) [wherein, x and y are each an integer of 0-100; R3 and R4 are each a 1-4C aliphatic hydrocarbon residue; and R5 is a 2-18C aliphatic hydrocarbon residue or a 3-8C cycloaliphatic hydrocarbon residue which may optionally be substituted or a polyoxyalkylene residue represented by formula (III) (wherein, R6 is hydrogen or methyl; n is an integer of 1-3; and m is an integer of 1-200)]}.
