PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new method for distilling oxystyrene derivatives without drawbacks of the prior arts. SOLUTION: This method for distilling the oxystyrene derivatives is developed which method is characterized by adding hydroxylamine derivatives as a polymerization inhibitor into the oxystyrene derivatives represented by the general formula (I) and by distilling the oxystyrene derivatives in the presence of the hydroxylamine derivatives (in the general formula (I), R represents an alkyl group, a haloalkyl group, an aryl group, in particular phenyl group, an aralkyl group, in particular benzyl group, an alkoxyalkyl group, an alkanoyl group, an alkoxycarbonyl group, an aralkyloxycarbonyl group, or alkylsilyl group). According to the present method, such an effect is obtained that the formation of a high viscous polymeric material is sufficiently prevented and the recovery of the distilled oxystyrene derivatives is high.
