PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stacker crane having a constitution where even when height of baggage placed on a carriage in a manual operation is high, the baggage does not collide against an upper frame. SOLUTION: This stacker crane 2 has a constitution where a detecting sensor 18 for detecting the upper end of the baggage 3 placed on the carriage 12 is arranged at the upper position of a crane mast 13 and a lifting operation of the carriage 12 is stopped when the detecting sensor 18 detects the upper end of the baggage 3. The detecting sensor 18 is a photoelectric sensor, and the photoelectric sensor 18 stops the lifting operation of the carriage 12 with shielding by the upper end of the baggage 3.
