PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal projector capable of separately choosing the function of a signal processing system or an optical system, and convenient to be housed and carry. SOLUTION: A video signal S1 is inputted, and a signal processing unit 10 is constructed by housing in a case a signal processing circuit 11 for performing video signal processing corresponding to a liquid crystal panel. Moreover, an optical unit 20 is constructed by housing in a case an optical system comprising a liquid crystal panel driving circuit 21 for driving a liquid crystal panel, the liquid crystal panel 22, a light source, mirror(s), lens(es), or the like. The signal processing unit 10 and the optical unit 20 are connected via an electric cable 30, and an output video signal or the like from the signal processing unit 10 are transmitted to the optical system. Both ends of the electric cable 30 is provided with a connector 31 and a connector 32 so as to be freely connected and disconnected with the signal processing unit 10 and the optical unit 20.
