PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide technique for performing fault determination of a heat accumulator based on a temperature of heat medium, in an internal combustion engine equipped with a heat accumulator. SOLUTION: The internal combustion engine with heat accumulator comprises: a heat accumulating means 10 for storing heat of the heat medium; a heat supply means 22 for supplying the heat medium stored in the heat accumulating means 10 to the internal combustion engine 1; a heat medium temperature measuring means 28 for measuring the temperature of the heat medium: and a fault determining means 22 for performing the fault determination of the heat accumulator 10 based on a change amount of a measurement value of the heat medium temperature measuring means 28 during the supply of heat by the heat supply means 22.
