PURPOSE: An adaptive equalizing apparatus for canceling a dynamic ghost and a method therefor are provided to reduce the degradation of performance by the dynamic ghost by separately controlling a step size used for calculating a coefficient of each tag of an equalizer which cancels the dynamic ghost. CONSTITUTION: A tap equalizing unit(100) equalizes an inputted data signal, outputs the equalized data signal, controls a step size according to a control signal, and outputs an error signal and a plurality of tap coefficients. The fist step size control unit(110) receives the error signal the first tap coefficient from the tap equalizing unit(100), and outputs the first step size control signal to the tap equalizing unit(100). The second step size control unit(120) receives the error signal and the second tap coefficient from the tap equalizing unit(100), and outputs the second step size control signal to the tap equalizing unit(100).
