SOLUTION: The inspection apparatus comprises a work edge position detection means 11 for detecting n-point edge positions P1 (X1 ,Y)-Pn (Xn ,Yn ) on the tip sectional surface of a work (w), a storage region for storing criterion distance Sd and the number of edge detection SL, a determination straight line creation means 12 for creating determination straight lines fK(QK,QK+ SL)(k=1,2,..., n-SL) for connecting two points (QK,QK+ SL), that are separated each other with the number of edge detection SL among Q1 (X1 +Sd,Y1 ) to Qn (Xn +Sd,Yn ).
