OPTICAL WAVEGUIDE AND WAVEGUIDE TYPE OPTICAL MULTIPEXER /DEMULTIPLEXER AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING FOR THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a waveguide type optical multiplexer/demultiplexer with which the radiation loss from connecting segments of array waveguides and slab waveguides can be reduced and a method of manufacturing for the same. SOLUTION: This waveguide type optical multiplexer/demultiplexer is constituted to have input waveguides 11, the slab waveguides 12A and 12B which expand and condense the incident light of respective wavelengths and the array waveguides 13 which regulate the phases of the light. Ends 15A of dividing dikes 15 for segmenting the array waveguides 13 in the connecting segments 14 of the slag waveguides 12A and 12B and the array waveguides 12B are formed to a convergent form and to heights decreasing successively toward the front ends.
