PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recoil starter with new rope slippage prevention device thought out to simply and easily provide a rope slippage prevention part at low cost without using expansive and large equipment such as an spot welding machine. SOLUTION: In the recoil starter, a reel for winding thereon a rope by restoring force of a spiral spring is stored in a case made by sheet metal drawing. The recoil starter is provided with the rope slippage prevention device disposed in such a manner that a mounting hole is opened at a proper position between a rope drawing port of the case and the reel, and a bar-like member for preventing slippage of the rope is press-fit into the mounting hole and protrudes from the mounting hole.
